    Anti-Wrinkle Treatments

    What treatments are available?

I currently offer anti-wrinkle injection treatments with Botulinum Toxin (Botox) for forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet. These treatments work by relaxing the muscle under the wrinkles which leads to a reduction or complete eradication of the furrows or lines. It can also be used to treat other areas, for example, bunny lines (wrinkles on the nose), lip lines, a gummy smile, to raise the corners of the mouth and neck lines. I aim to achieve a natural looking result giving you a refreshed and rejuvenated appearance.

Is the treatment suitable for everyone?

I offer a free, no obligation initial consultation at which I will do an assessment and we will discuss your hopes for the treatment and any concerns you may have. I will only offer treatment if I am confident the desired affect is realistic and achievable. People suffering from a few rare medical conditions, for example, Myasthenia Gravis are not suitable for the treatment. Pregnant or breast feeding women or those with an egg allergy, should not receive this treatment.

Are there any side effects or risks to the treatment?

Botox has been used for over 30 years and is very safe when administered by qualified medical professionals. As with all procedures, there is a very small risk of complications such as infection or bruising. In a very small percentage of people having the treatment, the effects of the injection can spread further than wanted leading to a temporary lowering of the brow line or eyelid for example. In these extremely rare occurrences, this resolves within a few weeks

How long does the treatment last?

Botox begins to take effect within the first few days of administration. The full effects will be achieved after 2 weeks. At this stage, you will have your follow up consultation and top up injections if necessary at no additional cost. Botox usually wears of within 12 weeks, with effects lasting 3-5 months on average. After a period of repeated treatments, some people find they require less frequent appointments as they have ‘broken the habit’ of the frowning which lead to the furrows and wrinkles in the first place.

Is there any down time after treatment?

Following Botox, you should stay upright and avoid touching your face for 3 to 4 hours. You should not do any exercise on the day of the treatment and you should avoid facials, laser treatment, chemical peels or sun beds for 2 weeks after treatment. There is usually some redness at the site of the injections which will settled within 20 minutes. Very occasionally some people experience some minor bruising which will settle in a few days. If you are wanting to have treatment for a special occasion, I would recommend you book the treatment at least a month before the event to ensure your treatment has had its full effect.
